Education and Experience:


1.    College degree preferred either Business or Marketing specialization.

1.    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for prolonged periods.

2.    Must be able to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays as required to complete job assignments.

  • Qualifications (relevant experience, education and training):

    1.     Requires High School diploma or equivalent and one to three years of verifiable welding experience including, TIG welding for stainless, Inconel, and titanium.  Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) experience with aerospace or precision fabrications desired.  Completion of welding training program through vocational school or apprenticeship is desired.  Able to work with limited guidance in a team environment.  

    2.     Must be AWS D17.1 certified within 6 months of employment

    3.     Ability to complete gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) of stainless steels, at varied thicknesses, dimensions, and positions. 

    1. Ability to successfully complete rework in a timely fashion.
    2. Ability to support stanchion set up and stanchion welding.

    6.     Ability to weld components from mechanical drawings, blueprints and written specifications

    7.     Ability to interpret weld requirements from blueprints, and written specifications

    8.     Knowledge of wire and filler materials applications for various stainless steel alloys

    9.     Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations

    1. Ability to read, write and understand instructions, procedures, drawings and blueprints
    2. Must be able to successfully weld Type 321 stainless steel thin wall tubing with an average wall thickness of approximately 0.028”-0.035” with diameters ranging from approximately 0.250” up to 1.5”; and eventually be able to weld Inconel, Titanium, and/or Aluminum.
    3. Must be able to successfully pass a vision exam to acceptable standards (with corrective lenses). NEAR VISION:  Jaeger 1 at 12 inches or greater.  Titmus 2a Vision Screener.  FAR VISIONa:  20/25 or better – Titmus2a Vision Schreener.  COLOR PERCEPTION:  Average / Normal – Titmus 2a Vision Screener or the Ishihara Test Book of color blindness.

    13.  Able to effectively apply lean initiatives.

    14.  Demonstrates effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a team environment.

1.    Requires high school diploma or equivalent and 1 year of recent plant experience at Stratoflex with moderate understanding of the overall production process. Applicants having successfully completed 32 hours of Penetrant Classroom Training per NAS-410 requirements will be preferred over plant experience.

2.    Must be able to understand codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the method utilized.

3.    Able to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participates in goal setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.

4.    Must have the ability to understand commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.

5.    Must have the ability to learn how to interpret reports and use job specific software applications.  Able to use employee self-service systems to access on-line information and use specialized automated systems (i.e. PMR, TORS, email)

6.    The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers about work product and processes and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.  Must be able to read and understand written instructions, procedures, drawings and blueprints.  Demonstrates effective interpersonal communication skills as well as the ability to work in a team environment.

7.    Must have the ability to complete a minimum of 32 hours of Penetrant Classroom Training per NAS-410 requirements to become eligible for Penetrant Level 2 Certification.

9.    Requires Vision examination per the requirements of QCS-131.

10.  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to utilize computer to access specifications and complete Penetrant Inspection reports. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Typical Mental and Physical Demands:

The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the plant to transition parts through the assigned work areas.  The team member frequently remains in a stationary position.  The team member has occasional exposure to dust, gas, fumes and noise and frequently moves materials weighing up to 25 lbs. around the plant.
