Aerospace Service Structures Technician
General Summary: Perform world-class support in a team atmosphere where members are challenged to fabricate and install structural repairs and modifications in a safe, efficient, and high quality manner achieving total customer satisfaction as measured by customer success drivers of on-time delivery, on-budget cost for parts and labor, and discrepancy free aftermarket service support. Provide structural service support to maintain aircraft in the safest, highest quality, most efficient means possible. The Service Structures Technician III will support direction from the Service Technician Crew Chief in all aspects of assigned aircraft projects including the ability to teach and develop junior structure technicians. The Service Structure Technician III will accurately interpret and read aircraft blueprints/modification drawings, coordinating necessary resources, personnel, documentation, and communication, including management, to ensure timely completion of quality structural repair and modifications for delivery. The Service Structures Technician III will have superior developed skill sets to inspect, service, repair and troubleshoot aircraft airframe and structural systems, composites, and components, in a safe and organized work area to meet manufacturer’ s and STC holders specifications, completing all required documentation per the FAA approved Quality Control and Repair Station Manual Procedures & Requirements. The Service Structures Technician III will use his/her developed skills and knowledge and properly train and mentor technicians of a lesser skill set for unmatched project quality and company Policy and Procedure adherence.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Support direction from the assigned Crew Chief and department manager, and direct junior Service Structures Technicians, and other assigned company employees on all aspects of assigned aircraft structural projects to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency throughout all phases of the projects. Accept full ownership and direct the assigned structural projects from pre-planning to delivery of aircraft. The Service Structures Technician III will follow all policies and procedures, especially the Quality Control Manual, for company, and will ensure the safety and security of customer’ s equipment, parts and aircraft during all structural repair and modifications phases.
2. Support, mentor, and teach structural repair & modifications projects by providing skilled labor and utilizing structural repair techniques, and directing junior structural technicians under the direction of the Service Technician Crew Chief, on a day-to-day basis for compliance and quality performance. Accountable to company approved policies and procedures, including all aspects of professionalism, safety, and cleanliness of the work environment. Required to understand, interpret, and teach consistent use, control, and compliance to appropriate approved technical data from authorized engineering sources, FAA approved documentation and original equipment aircraft manufacturers’ maintenance & compliance documentation.
3. Capable of performing, maintaining, and teaching accurate and timely aircraft and project documentation. This documentation will include but is not limited to reviewing various Pentagon reports to ensure accuracy of project billed labor hours, goal times, discrepancy documentation and sign-offs on an as required basis. Insure correct parts postings and maintenance manual documentation for assigned structural projects and review work order documentation discrepancies to ensure timely and accurate entries and appropriate sign-off language and customer billings.
4. Inspect, service, repair, and troubleshoot aircraft-related structural systems and structure discrepancies utilizing the company-approved procedures, policies, and the appropriate Original Equipment Aircraft Manufacturers’ Maintenance Manuals. Mentor and train company employees with a lesser component knowledge.
5. Support and insure compliance with OJT documentation to promote growth and development of self and assigned structure team member in order to develop advanced skill sets and promote team cohesiveness and trust. The Service Structures Technician III will be monitored and evaluated by the Service Technician Crew Chief / Manager on performance, professionalism, positive attitude, positive work ethic, accurate and timely time keeping and structural maintenance performance at all times. 6. Support, maintain, and comply with all environmental, health and safety, federal, OSHA, state and local regulations.
7. Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Licenses: None required. FAA Airframe and Power Plant Certificates preferred.
Competencies: Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
Outstanding organizational skills.
Physical: Routinely lift up to 50 lbs., occasionally lifts up to 100 lbs.
Work in confined spaces, extreme temperatures, heights above six feet, noisy environments, and flying. Work with and around products / materials associated with aircraft maintenance, structural repair and modifications.
Other: Basic Microsoft Office skills, including Word and Excel.
Man lift qualified.
Occasional overnight and short notice travel.
Maintain a tool Inventory which satisfies shop requirements.
Education and Experience:
- High school graduate or equivalency degree required.
- Associate or Bachelor Degree Preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of FARs 43, 65, 91, 135, 145 required.
- Five Years Aviation Experience with emphasis on Structural Repair and Modifications required.
